Tetsuya (Dennis) Imura was born in Mie, Japan, and began his ballet training at the age of five in Tokyo. At 15, he moved to Saint Petersburg, Russia, to study at the prestigious Vaganova Ballet Academy for two years, followed by an additional year of training at the Hamburg Ballet School in Germany.

Dennis began his professional career at the Buryatia Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in Russia. He later performed with the National Opera and Ballet Theatre of North Macedonia and the Novosibirsk Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, where he danced as a soloist in classical repertoire including Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Le Corsaire, La Bayadère, and more.

In 2021, Dennis relocated to Vancouver, Canada, where he continued his involvement in ballet as an instructor while completing a degree in Philosophy at the University of British Columbia, graduating in 2024. In addition to his academic and teaching work, he appeared as a guest principal dancer in The Nutcracker with Royal City Youth Ballet in both 2023 and 2024.
